Jean Marie Nelson |

Jean Marie has danced, directed and choreographed for many shows, as well as having danced professionally. She studied dancing at many fine schools throughout her career including the Joe Martin School of Dance in Texas, under Eleanor Borg (formerly of the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes), at the Eleanor Borg School in Oregon, Eddy Smith's Dance College in Minneapolis, The Thermopolis Dance Studio in Wyoming and Shipley & Smith's Professional School of Dance in California. Jean Marie has taught on the faculty workshops in San Francisco and in Minneapolis. She holds degrees in N.A.D.A.A. and has performed with her instructor Benny Smith at The Surf Club of San Francisco and the Sunnyvale Theatre. Benny Smith choreographs dances for the performers at the Miss America Pageants. Jean Marie has also worked for the Thermopolis, WY Chamber teaching western-style high-kicking dance. Jean Marie is the mother of two adult children, Kathy and Joe, and has eight grandchildren. |

Studied dancing at the Joe Martin School of Dance in Texarkana, Texas.
Studied under the direction of Eleanor Borg at the Eleanor Borg School of Dance in the Dells, Oregon. Eleanor directed weekly shows at the Dells
Theater in which Jean Marie was a member of the professional dance line.
Studied at the Eddie Smith Dance College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, The Thermopolis Dance
Studio, Thermopolis, Wyoming and the Shipley Smith Professional School of dance in San
Francisco, California. Both Shipley and Smith were national faculty members of the N.A.D.A.A.
(National Association of Dance and Affiliated Artists.) Taught on the faculty of N.A.D.A.A. at workshops in San Francisco, California and in
Minneapolis, Minnesota. Was also a mistress of Ceremony at a workshop in San Francisco. Is a gold seal member and holds many N.A.D.A.A. degrees.

| WORK HISTORY |
While in California, studying and also teaching dance, Jean Marie performed with her instructor,
Benny Smith. Upon Traveling to Wyoming,
Jean Marie worked for the Chamber of Commerce in Thermopolis, where she
performed and instructed the western high-kicking dancing and marching "Rangerettes"
performing and touring in the Wind River Canyon area. Jean Marie and the Rangerettes performed
at the Queen's Ball and the arena at the Thermopolis Rodeo, where they were introduced by
Governor Millard Simpson of Wyoming.
In Jean Marie's thirty + years of being in the dance studio business, she has made numerous television and radio appearances and interviews.

Jean Marie has worked with the Cadott Lions Club, the Lady smith Jaycees, St. Mary's Hospital and V.F.W. benefits, producing grandstand shows for the Ladysmith and Sheldon fairs. Others include Stanley Parade committee, Cadott Good Neighbor Days, Boy Scouts of America, Bloomer Fireman's Ball, the Cancer Association, Infantile Paralysis, area P.T.A. functions, Hawkins Fall Festival, Holcombe 4-H, Cornell and Cadott Band Mothers, and many more.
Jean Marie is so very grateful to her parents, Lee and Rita Nelson for all their dedicated support, mom's work and assistance, dad's work in the construction business (building large concrete dams) which gave our family a chance to travel, and the opportunity to study dance in so many great places in the U.S.A.

Sheri Harvey started her dance training with Jean Marie over 20 years ago, and has been teaching with Jean 14 years. She started taking lessons at Jean Marie’s school of dance over twenty years ago. She loves to dance and is wonderful with dancers of all ages. She is married and has two sons. Her husband Tim and two son's Tyler and Cole also help at the recitals. We all appreciate Sheri and she is always there whenever help is needed. Not only is she a great dancer, she is also a great person.
Sheri’s has endless talents. Just to mention a few, She is now one of two director’s at Saint John Lutheran Church in Cadott, working with children of all ages, as well as adults. She has also been a former Sunday school teacher at Saint John’s for many years.
Her artistic talents carry her into the art of flower arrangements, for many events, weddings and social gatherings. She enjoys and is also very involved with her family.
Sheri is known as the happy smiling receptionist, greeting people in person and on the phone at Market and Johnson in Eau Claire.

“Winter & Bad Weather”
Dance Classes will not be held any time Chippewa Falls / Eau Claire public schools are closed for bad weather.
Whenever Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire public schools cancel or let out early due to bad weather all classes are automatically cancelled for that evening you will NOT be individually contacted.
More about weather: In Case of bad weather later in the day. Call the dance school number 715-723-8635 check the message. If the normal message is on the machine we are at dance class. (If lessons are canceled the massage will be changed.) Of course there may be a time the weather changes before the phone change can be make.

Girls are to wear regular dance leotards (any color or style) over tights. Tights and leotards can be purchased at many local stores. Boys are to wear sweat pants and t-shirts tucked in. Pre-teens, teens and adults may wear leggings, black stretch pants with short to-the-waist shirts, bodysuits, or dance leotards. No Jeans! Long hair is required to be tied back and no plastic headbands or loose jewelry may be worn.

| Held in May or June; tickets are sold to pay expenses. Each dance family will receive two complimentary parent tickets. Adult dancer receives one complimentary ticket. our dance school to provides combined tap/ballet or tap/jazz to our dancers at no extra charge, making dance more affordable to everyone.. |

Costumes will be ordered in November. All Costumes must be paid for at the time ordered dance costumes cannot be returned or cancelled. |

Our school photographer will take class and individual pictures as soon as the costumes arrive. Our photographer has a special inexpensive price of class and individual pictures. |

Parents are encouraged to visit and watch the first lesson of each month to see the progress their children are making. The dancers will do so much more without distractions and noise from younger children visiting. Students apply themselves and work much harder if their parents aren't present, and are proud to show them their dances of the first lesson of the month. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask. |
